Research into Production logos:
Mainstream company:
The production company's logo is usually featured at the start of the movie. Big production companies such as Summit Entertainment, Miramax Films, Universal, Paramount Pictures and 20th Century Fox have their own production logo. This is used to immediately tell the audience who has made the film. This allows them to make connections between films they have seen, and informs them of what to expect, based on other films made by that company. For example, Universal made Bruce Almighty, which is a light-hearted comedy that appeals to most people. When people see the Univeral logo they associate it with other films, such as Bruce Almighty, that they have made.
Most logos have a dark background, which is something to consider when designing our logo. Blue is a predominant colour in most of these logos, as it stands out and draws the audiences attention to it. The writing is usually a light colour, which provides a contrast to the dark background. These are all points to consider when designing our production logo.Independent company:
Independent company logos are usually much simpler than mainstream company logos. This could be due to the fact that they don't have to draw the attention of big audiences. In addition, they don't have to me as memorable as big company logos because they are only trying to appeal to a niche audience, rather than everyone. The indpendent company logos make use of colours such as red and green, which makes them stand out, and matches the type of films they typically produce. The Red Raven logo has white background with black writing, which is in contrast with the mainstream company logos.
