Logo Development

Logo  Development

I designed this logo based on our production company name which is CSJS, I wanted it to be quite bold and block and just include the letters with a simplistic outline to catch peoples attention. I started off with a rough sketch which is shown above, then I scanned it into the computer and uploaded it onto Adobe Premier Pro, and used the inverse option on a title screen at the beginning of our film to make the background black and the logo white which then makes it look even more vibrant and eye catching. It also straightened up the rough lines of my sketched logo making it look more professional and so that it gave off a better impression to the audience.

Production Logo

Most independent production logos are dark colours, mainly black, so we decided to make our production logo green so it would stand out. The green logo links to the setting of the forrest. The writing is white as green and white go well together, and white offers a nice contrast against the green background. We decided to make our logo simple, so as not to distract from the rest of the film.

Changes to our Film

 Original full film treatment:
Lucy wakes up in a forest, alone, terrified with no one around to hear her scream. After being chased by a hooded figure through the forest she trips and gets taken to an abandoned warehouse where she is blindfolded and tied up to a chair.  The hooded figure returns and proposes her with a task, “find your way home before they catch you. You have 12 hours”. Lucy fights for survival as she has to find her way home, with a psychotic group of strangers chasing and taunting her.

Ammendments:
Lucy gets ready for bed, with an omnious forboding hanging over her. She speaks to her mother on the phone, before going to sleep. Lucy wakes up in a forest, alone, terrified with no one around to hear her scream. After being chased by a hooded figure through the forest she trips and falls to the floor. This causes her to wake from the 'dream'. She gets out of bed and gets ready for work, before getting in the car. An announcement on the radio informs her of a young woman who was seen being dragged into the back of a van from the forrest the night before. On Lucy's way to work, she faints and wakes up in an abandoned warehouse where she is blindfolded and tied up to a chair.  The hooded figure returns and proposes to her a task, “find your way home before they catch you. You have 12 hours”. Lucy fights for survival as she has to find her way home, with a psychotic group of strangers chasing and taunting her.

Tricky Shots, Edits and Effects

  • Graphic match - Used as a tramsition between the watch and the mug

  • Quick cuts -  Used to build tension in the forest

  • Bird's eye shot -  Used to show Lucy laying on the forest floor

  • Extreme close up -  Used to show Lucy's eyes opening

  • Deep focus - Used to show the note on the tree in the background

  • Focus pull - To show the creepy figure in the distance

Questionnaire

Questionnaire:

Lucy, a girl who is home alone goes to bed unsuspecting of what is in store when she wakes up covered in dirt, in the middle of a forest with no one in sight. She instantly realises something is wrong and panic sets in. A noise startles her from her thoughts and she sharply turns around to see a hooded figure watching her in the distance, she immediately starts to run but the stranger follows her, and chases her through the forest. Lucy isn’t sure of where she is or who is following, but the one thing she is sure of is that she has to run for her life.

Character Profile

Character profile

General info

Name: Lucy

Gender: Female

Age: 16 years old

Hobbies: Reading, watching films and television, and art

Nationality: English

Costume

We wanted Lucy to look as if she was going to bed, but we didn’t want her to be in pyjamas as this wasn’t very practical for filming out in the woods so we chose black leggings and a grey t shirt to give off a casual look. This costume also portrays the character to not be ready for what’s ahead as she is wearing little clothing and has to run through the woods.

Characteristics

Lucy appears be quite a kind girl, who appears to be quite weak in the first two minutes of the film we are making as she cannot defend herself shown as she gets captured at the hands of the dangerous stranger, but if we made the film in full you would see her get stronger as it progressed.

Gender

We chose the name Lucy as it’s quite a popular and stereotypical girls name showing getting kidnapped could happen to anyone which provokes an audience reaction. Women are stereotypically weak so we portray Lucy to be this in the beginning but if we were to make the full film she would get stronger towards the end.

Location Photos (INT.)

The first scene is set in a kitchen. The main character, Lucy, makes a hot drink and checks the time.
The kitchen is a kitchen-diner style kitchen. We chose this so that we would have enough space to film properly.

She then picks up her drink and makes her way into the hallway, before going upstairs to bed.

I have included photos of the kitchen, hallway, stairs and bedroom to illustrate where our interior filming took place.

The kitchen leads on to a hallway, where the main character, Lucy, answers her phone. She speaks to her mother on the phone, before making her way upstairs.

Lucy then goes into her bedroom, places the drink down on the table beside her bed, and gets into bed.

Risk Assessment

Risk Assessment
There were many risks we we will have to take into consideration when filming our film.

Risks to people:
The main character in our film makes a hot drink. This could possibly cause the actor to get scalded if any spillages occur. This has a high chance of occurring, and would pose a high risk to the actor. To combat this we will make sure the temperature of the drink isn’t hot enough to scald the actor. Additionally, we will ensure the cup isn’t too full, which will make it harder to spill. If the drink is spilled we will wipe up any spillages immediately to avoid the risk of anyone slipping.
When filming the scenes in the woods we will have to make sure to have a responsible adult with us at all times. This will ensure our safety, as well as the safety of the camera equipment. Our film contains scenes that require the actor to run through the woods. This poses a risk as the actor could trip and injure themselves. This has a high chance of occurring and could pose a high risk to the actor. To combat this we will carry out a full inspection of the route that the actor is going to run, and remove any debris that could cause a trip hazard. In addition, we will make sure the path is well lit so that the actor is able to see where they are going.
Electrical equipment such as lighting and cameras can get hot. This could mean that a member of the group could burn themselves. This has a low chance of occurring, but could pose a high risk to members of the group. To combat this we will make sure to turn off any equipment when not using it.

Risks to equipment:
When filming the scenes in the woods it is possible the camera equipment could get damaged. This has a low chance of occurring. There are many precautions we could take to stop this including: making sure all equipment is kept in its proper bag, making sure equipment is not left lying around and making sure equipment is packed away properly after use. In addition, we will make sure to carry all equipment as it is intended to be carried, for example, folding the tripod up properly and detaching the camera, and making sure the camera has its lens cap replaced after use.
Overall, I believe the risk of injuries occurring when making our film is low. We will use these measures to ensure the safety of the group and the equipment when filming. The risk of damage to equipment is also low, however we will make sure to pack everything away properly to avoid damage.

Suggested elements

In the full film at some point we would include a flashback with lots of quick cuts and several jump scares. Also the action scenes would be tricky to shoot from different angles.
